Our client is looking for an IBMi (AS400) engineer to deliver high quality software and technical solutions in a scrum agile environment. The candidate must be fluent across the full stack of IBMi technology including the various version of RPG, CL, SQL, DB2, and ILE. In this hands-on role, the Software Engineer will be working with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, Business Analysts, business stakeholders and project managers to understand the requirements, formulate technical designs, and implement and test solutions to ensure compliance to requirements and technical standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Design and develop high availability, scalable and resilient solutions/applications on an IBMi
•Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with other product owners, scrum masters, software engineers, business users, project managers and customers to achieve solutions that meet business expectations.
•Work alongside other software engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
•Adheres to architecture standards and development best practices like Test-Driven development, code reviews, static code analysis and secure coding
•Writes technical user stories and ensures that non-functional requirements are met to ensure performance, scaling, resilience and maintainability of
software/solutions
•Actively resolves defects and manages technical debt
•Develop and execute unit tests to ensure business/customer requirements are delivered
•Participates in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives to enable progress, and surface and resolve impediments
•Collaborates with the team to support end-to-end including design, development, QA, deployment and production support
Skills and Qualifications:
•At least 7 years experience developing on an IBMi
•College/University degree or equivalent years of development experience
•Solid Experience using:
o AS400 –RPG, CL, DB2, ILE and SQL
o B2B and EDI Documents (i.E. EDI850, EDI842, EDI855, EDI856, EDI810) would be an asset
•Excellent communication and leadership skills.
•Experience with test driven development (TDD) is a plus
•Experience with other development languages or scripts is a plus
•Experience in Distribution environment is preferred
•Experience in a Scrum environment is required
•Ability to work and excel in a constantly changing, fast-paced agile environment
•Demonstrates “agile-development”mindset with strong customer-focus & results-orientation
•Flexible mindset (not married to a single language) and demonstrated ability to grow skillset and work across the full technology stack
•Highly proficient in teamwork and collaboration skills
