Digital Payload System Architect
Based in our clients Montreal office, you will support proposal and program efforts for satellite communication systems. Your work will span front-end design, detailed analysis, and the development of digital channelizers and on-board processing systems.
Key Responsibilities

  • System Design: Design end-to-end telecommunication payloads, ranging from conventional RF bent-pipe to digital on-board processing (transparent/regenerative).

  • Technical Leadership: Lead technical projects and systems engineering activities for flexible satellite capacity and connectivity.

  • Specifications: Define requirements for RF and digital equipment, including digital channel processors, Phased Array Antennas (DRA), and Multi-Port Amplifiers.

  • Analysis: Perform link/performance budget calculations, requirement analyses, and system trade studies.

  • V&V: Generate standards and procedures for system-level testing and support design reviews.
Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.

  • Experience: 10+ years of industry experience with a background in complex systems architecture.

  • Technical Skills: * Proficiency in digital equipment, signal processing, and networking (DTN, MPLS, DVB, 5G NTN).

    • Experience with SDR (Software Defined Radio) and digital beamformed payloads.

    • Familiarity with simulation tools (Matlab, Simulink, STK) and Agile software development.

  • Leadership: Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing hardware suppliers.

  • Communication: Strong technical writing and presentation skills. French is required;English fluency is an asset.

    Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
