Alquemy's client is a leading provider of gas & oil production equipment. They are seeking an experienced Gas Processing Applications Engineer join their team.
The successful candidate will to lead engineering projects during the bid stage in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for both the overall process design and putting together firm bid proposals for the entire product line. In addition, this role will review and provide support to the projects team as required.
Responsibilities and Duties Our client requires someone with strong communication skills, developed problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative environment. The candidate’s ability to be highly organized, establish clear objectives and monitor key measures, will enable them to deliver the results you need to be successful in this role.
•Provide process and/or thermal design of heat exchangers and other related gas processing equipment. Training will be provided in this area. The expectation is that, over time, the Applications Engineer will develop the necessary process engineering & estimating skills to cover the entire product line. •Work with the Mechanical Engineering team to complete equipment designs. •Complete cost estimates and produce formal quotations for gas processing equipment. •Request quotations from sub-suppliers for equipment required as part of natural gas processing packages and review incoming proposals on a technical and commercial basis. •Provide technical support to other functional groups including project management, drafting, and production. •Make recommendations for improved processes and increased efficiency. In essence, work with a goal and mindset to add value to all stakeholders involved. •Design process flow and piping / instrument diagrams •Review preliminary general arrangements and/or 3D models •Ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness on responsible bids •Implement project specifications •Size PSV’s and control valves based on process information •Size vessels and piping based on process information
Qualifications
•5+ Years of experience with an Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma •Current Professional engineer designation (P. Eng.) or working towards this goal as an EIT. •Working knowledge of gas processing and fabrication •Experience in plant layout and how it relates to equipment design •Experience sizing pumps, heat exchangers, separators, and distillation columns is required •ASME Section VIII and B31.3 is helpful but not required •Experience sizing pressure relief valves, control valves and piping is considered an asset. •Proficient in the entire Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word. •Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS is considered an asset.
