Alquemy's Montreal Client is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their team!
The Role:
In this role, you will assist more senior accountants with the day to day accounting activities, including journal entries and reconciliations. You will also assist in the maintenance of sub ledgers, as well as be involved in the population of financial reports. You will also participate in the preparation of quarterly and year end audit schedules.
Job Responsibilities: Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded Update accounts receivable and issue invoices Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations Perform re-class between prepaid expenses and expenses Perform reconciliations of various accounts Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. As assigned Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings Assist with other accounting projects
Job Qualifications:
Proven experience as a junior accountant 0-2 years accounting experience in a large manufacturing environment, or in a major CPA firm Excellent organizing abilities Great attention to detail Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software Bachelor in accounting, finance or relevant field Fluent in French and English (verbal and written).
Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the Reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.
