Space Systems Engineering Supervisor Location: Montreal, QC
Role Overview: As a member of the management team, you will lead a section of the Space Systems department focused on the design and development of digital telecommunications payloads and aperture synthesis. You will balance technical oversight with people management to ensure the successful delivery of complex satellite products. Core Responsibilities Leadership & Resource Management
Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate staff;conduct performance reviews and set individual growth goals.
Strategic Staffing: Manage resource allocation to support R&D and program demands;implement succession planning to prevent technical bottlenecks.
Operational Oversight: Manage indirect budgets, propose capital investments, and ensure adherence to collective agreements.
Technical Oversight
Quality Assurance: Lead Technical Overview Boards (TOB) and provide expert support to Material Review Boards (MRB).
Problem Solving: Lead technical diagnoses and implement corrective actions following internal/external audits.
Knowledge Sharing: Coordinate "lessons learned" sessions and support Communities of Practice (COP).
Process & Business Growth
Continuous Improvement: Modernize engineering practices and tools to increase organizational competitiveness.
Proposals & R&D: Support new business activities, formulate product development roadmaps, and coordinate patent requests.
Professional Requirements
Experience: 5–10 years in telecommunications payload engineering and aperture synthesis (Space Industry preferred).
Technical Knowledge: Proven expertise in Systems Engineering processes and Satellite Telecommunication Systems (Space and Ground segments).
Leadership: Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, human relations, and team management.
Business Acumen: Experience or interest in risk management, negotiation, and financial reporting.
Communication: Fluent in both French and English (written and spoken).
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
